Kathleen Harvey's practice developed from, and remains firmly grounded in painting. She produces vividly enthralling landscapes by the utilization of unconventional colour palettes and the duality of abstraction and realism. Her translation of painting into video, animation and installation acts as an extension to her process, in furthering the impressions of her landscapes—enabling her audience to be momentarily transported further in the reality she constructs.
Her work is concerned by tensions, within nature and between built environments. These disparities are communicated through—a fragmented grid, a field, courts, architecture and voided landscapes.
